The Stache by Mia Hill

This is the tale of Senor Oui Oui of France; he is a very friendly and a jubilant individual that is an immigrant with a French Accent. However, his parents, Catalaya and Pablo, originated from Spain and have Spanish accents. Growing up, Senor Oui Oui was always thought of as a very interesting individual because he was born with a birthmark on his left index finger that was a mustache. As a kid all of the girls found him creepy because anytime he went to talk to them he had his “mustache” on and he tended to say things like “Bonjour, beautiful fille’s. Would you guys like to take a drink afterschool at the mall?” They always laughed and walked away. His young adult years were about the same, but he was less awkward around people, but girls still found his “mustache” and colorful dressing really strange. Now, Senor Oui Oui is the sharpest foreigner ever because of his fresh and clean cut, formal clothing, and newly romantic French-American accent. However, he couldn’t quite get rid of that mustache he would pull out during apprehensive times… or anytime for that matter, he decided to talk to people. Unfortunately, well educated Oui Oui worked as a custodian or in all reality: Janitor in Brooklyn HS of the Arts because in all of his job interviews the owners couldn’t get passed his “mustache” he pulled out of his pockets.

He could remember his first day at work like it was yesterday because it was the day he met her, the love of his life, and the light of his dreams. On his first day of work it was a cloudy day and rain was of the essence. He saw various amounts of rude teenagers gathering around the school building. As soon as he twinkled up the stairs into to the wide crowded first floor, his boss was there and he called to him “Oui Oui, you’re late.” It was only 8:15, what did he mean I was late? He thought to himself. Anyway, his first assignment was given to him in an instant, Objective One: check out the window in 101B it’s not closing and the floor is getting wet. He walked through the long halls in search for 101B. As he walked he saw everything but 101B; 101A, 108, 104, ahh 101B finally after about 20mins... he said to himself.

He didn’t know whether to knock or just barge into a class full of high schoolers, so he did both. With in one foot in the classroom he saw the most beautiful creature ever with long dirty blonde hair. Her face was beautifully shaped, her height made her look like the perfect pear tree, and her tanned skin added a extra glow to the room that made her shine brighter than anything in the world. She was beautiful, her name was Ms. Levine and she seemed to be the only thing in the room at the moment to Oui Oui. As he stood now in the middle of the classroom the whole class stared at him in utter confusion.

“Who’s that?” Dana whispered to Shanelle.

“What’s up with that mustache?” Shanelle whispered back.

“He looks like a robot.” Brithney said in a soft voice.

“Why is he just standing there?” Vicky said rudely.

As time went by the classroom was filled with whispering teenagers wondering who the heck was standing in the middle of their classroom.

“Excuse me, how may I help you?” said a pitchy, strong, country voice from the side of the room.

It was her, Ms. Levine. He couldn’t believe she actually was talking to him. Oui Oui didn’t get any of his words out; her beauty took away his soul and left him temporarily speechless and paralyzed. Flashing back to reality he realized it was 8:45am and he had a job to do.

“I’m here a—“

“About the window!? Yeah, it’s acting really weird it’s not closing and it’s raining out…. Plus my floor is getting all wet,” she cried out.

Straight to work he went with out any discussion. He climbed on top of the radiator and started inspecting it like inspector gadget. His thoughts were just filled with Ms. Levine as she tried to maintain the rest of her class in the other corner of the room. “Aw look at how cute she teaches! If she were my teacher when I was in school, I would want special attention all the time. Mhmmm…. She looks so good in that pink sparkly sweater and those fitted dark denim jeans”

The window wouldn’t budge it was like it was glued together with cement. Oui Oui tried a different approach to close it. He put his mustache on, his right hand on the window ceil and put all his strength into his left elbow. It was working the window was closing millimeter by millimeter. “Yes, almost there…. she’s gonna love me for this! I might actually get a hug and feel her soft long hair on my skin and her warm temperature in sync with mines! I like hugs, she looks like a hugger.”

“BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!”

A high, pitchy, siren like bell, which caused him to stop pushing the window downward and look up, startled him. It was the bell for third period. Meanwhile, the window was pushed far enough that it was able to slide down on its own.

POW!

Oui Oui’s hand was now a window sandwich. He screamed so loud that people in Alaska could hear the echo of his scream.

“OH MY GOD! Umm. Mr… Mr… Ugh are you ok?” shouted Ms. Levine in fear.

“Am I ok?! My freaking hand is a part of the window. How could I be ok with all of this throbbing pain in my hand? But thank the lord she’s talking to me, aw she’s so cute when she’s frightened” Thoughts filled his head and pain filled his hand but all he had to show for it was this awkward constipated look on his face.

Ms. Levine decided to take matters into her own hands and tried to get Oui Oui out. She pulled the window in an upward position but it wouldn’t budge. She was not about to give up, not while her students were watching. So she coughed up some saliva, spit in her hands, rubbed them together and pulled. After a few moments, It was working, all her grunting and moaning motivated her until Oui Oui’s hand was finally free. Her students were amazed…

“Ms. Levine is so hot,” said Careem in his cool and deep voice.

“Wonder woman with blonde hair!” said Faith from the door.

“That’s my BOO!” said Mia, as usual.

They all cheered for her until one student yelled,

“OH CHIZ WE’RE ALL LATE FOR 3RD PERIOD!!!”

The students scattered away as if the cops were coming for them and Oui Oui was left alone with Ms. Levine (Yes, You go Oui Oui).

“How’s your hand Mr.. Mr.. What’s your name anyway?” she said in confusion.

“Oui Oui, Senor Oui Oui.” He couldn’t believe she wanted to know his name. A girl was finally talking to him.

“ Oui oui? As in Yes Yes?”

“Yes.”

“HahaHa, I’m sorry but that is one of the funniest things ever. Is that your real name?”

There it was, laughter. All his life he has been laughed at and there it was again from yet another girl. He looked down at his left index finger in awe. Times like this required his “mustache” but something about her, that moment, that time, was different.

He took a long sigh before answering.

“Uhh no, it’s Ricardo.”

“So, why does everyone call you Oui Oui?”

“…Because back when I came to this country people asked me my name and the only things I knew was Senor and Oui Oui, so that’s what they thought my name was.”

He never told anyone that, she was the first. No one ever seemed so interested in him before. Nor has anyone ever looked to get past his name.

“Well, I like Ricardo! You should use it. I’m Rebecca by the way,” she smiled.

“Oh my! She likes my name. Play it cool, play it cool. Ask her out!” he mumbled into his thoughts.

“Uhh, Ms. Levine … Rebecca woul-, woul-“ the words didn’t want to come out it was like a force of gravity was holding them in. He started to pull out his left index finger where his mustache was but instead he blurted out “Would you like to get some coffee after school?”

Something about Oui Oui, Ricardo made her smile. He was interesting to her and she seemed to find him beyond attractive. She looked at him for a moment as her cheeks turned rosy pink. There was an eye conversation between them for a moment before anyone said anything.

“I’d love to. Meet me at 3 by the main.”

“See you at 3.” He smiled.

“She said yes, oh my glob she said yes!” They had a secret language that couldn’t be heard or understood by anyone but them. It was almost like they were destined to be. This was the beginning of something new, something rich, and something that Oui Oui had not felt in his whole entire life. Love at first sight, which would or could last forever.
