September 4,1989 was the day a young sophisticated girl was born. Her name was Pink Ivy. She was a very strong minded and independent girl, but she had a very deep secret that she never felt any one should know, she was part mermaid. She knew how to turn her powers on and off but if she was exposed to too much water her transformation would begin. She lived in the undersea world of Atlantis. Where the water was royal blue, the fish were unique and had the most beautiful colors that anyone had ever seen. She sometimes stayed on land whenever she felt like it. During the day she went to school with the normal human beings, and lived a life as a normal person, that is to those who didn’t know her that very well. Her best friend was Ariel who ironically was also a mermaid. She had ambitions to become a successful and famous performer but her family thought that those kind of goals weren’t good enough. They didn’t understand the human way of life, so low income jobs like McDonalds seemed wonderful to them and that’s what they wanted her to do. She loved her life and her family but felt as though they sometimes trapped her.
One day she took it upon herself to follow her goals to persuade the career as a performer. Her first gig that she received was an acting role as a drug addict (crack head). In order for her to completely become one with her role she had to do some intense research. Such as actually living the life of a crackhead. Her research started the day she made her transformation, she couldn’t bathe for a week, do her hair or any kind of grooming to herself what so ever. In fact the producers had makeup artist scrub egg yolk into her hair because they really wanted her to seem authentic when going in to do this research for her role. After two weeks of living and interacting with those at the crack house she was ready and prepared for her role.
She was really proud of her work and thought that her parents would be too but instead they weren’t all that pleased with her choice of pursuing this kind of career because like before they did not understand the human way of life. Although they wanted the best for her they did not understand exactly what would be the best for her when it came to the human life. In which she knew and understood but she still wished that they would at least pretend to understand and support her. Despite all that's happening with her parents Ariel was extremely proud and happy for her. She felt as though Ariel was the only person she could relate to. After all she was married to a human and she knew more about the human life better than any other mermaid. Therefore she continued to encourage Pink Ivy to pursue her dreams and goals, in which she went on to dance and singing.
Pink felt as though she had not come to terms with how she wanted to live her life because she wanted the best of both worlds. She wanted the support from her family and to be able to do as she pleased as far as careers went. However she did not let that stop her, she went on to continue with her choices and live her life, after all she is her own boss. From that moment she decided to just live for herself and in the end she became very successful and her parents had no other choice but to be proud. After all they eventually had to know the difference between great, good, ok, and bad jobs for them to be that happy for her.
